After growing up and going to medical school in Karachi, Pakistan, Dr. Taqi decided to relocate to the US to study neuroscience. He completed his research at the prestigious Brown University. From there, he went on to complete other his residency in Neurology and later fellowships in vascular neurology, neurocritical care, and endovascular interventional neuroradiology from the University of Tennessee and the Medical College of Wisconsin. If anyone possesses the innate characteristics that make a good doctor, it is Dr. Taqi. Since Dr. Taqi was a child, he has been passionate about helping others in need. He was also highly interested in science, particularly biology, especially when it came to studying the complexities of the brain. His love for research and helping others ultimately intertwined and developed into his calling as a vascular neurologist in Thousand Oaks, CA. Dr. Taqi knew that he would become a neuroscientist when he was in the 9th grade, a decision that he has stood by ever since.
Personal Connection
When Dr. Taqi was a medical student in Pakistan, his father suffered a stroke. His father was forced to wait in the ER for over six hours to see a doctor that was ultimately not able to help in any way. Tragically, his father passed away before the doctor was able to intervene. Because of this, Dr. Taqi fully understands the mental, physical, and emotional toll that those who are at risk for neurological diseases and their loved ones have to bear.

Dr. Taqi takes pride in helping others address their symptoms to try to prevent strokes and other issues early on. Because of this, he strives to meet with TIA and stroke patients within 48 hours of their request. His patients, and the level of care that they receive, are his top priority.

By combining his personal experiences, his love of research, and his dedication to helping others, Dr. Taqi has become one of the most respected figures in his field. Aside from helping others at his practice, Dr. Taqi is also heavily involved in researching new methods. As part of a clinical research trial, Dr. Taqi is motivated to help move the field of neuroscience forward as a whole. He is on the forefront of most of the trials happening in the stroke and a brain aneurysm arena. He has written book chapters, more than 40 published articles and more than 80 scientific research presentations at various national and international meetings.
Dr. Taqi invented a scoring system, called Ventura Elvo Score (VES) that is used to triage stroke patients to appropriate centers. The score was adopted by Ventura county-wide and has already helped number of patients to get their treatments at the earliest time possible
